Office of Pre-Hospital Care
Mission
Wheeling Hospital’s Office of Pre-Hospital Care is a coordinated effort among the
various departments to provide expanded community outreach education.
Purpose
To maintain a central location for customers to acquire information:
- Education for EMS, nurses, and other allied health professionals, including CPR,
PALS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC.
- Prevention: schools, public sports programs, fall prevention, etc.
- Consultation: advice on where can equipment be purchased, instruction of certain
equipment, etc.
- Outreach: Blood Drives, Dad’s Boot Camp, Safe Sitter, Safety Town, Lifeline, etc.
Requests
To make it easy for area organizations to request public education programs, the
office serves as the single contact. A pre-hospital provider, fire and EMS squads,
community organizations, schools and other entities can access the Office of Pre-Hospital
Care. A dedicated operator or voice-activated message will document the program
request and forward it to the appropriate department.
Within 24 business hours, the agency requesting the program will be contacted to
discuss and schedule the event. The program offers an easily accessible, one-stop
office where people can call for information on education programs and training.
Assistance
The Office of Pre-Hospital Care will provide assistance in four areas: education,
outreach, consultation and injury prevention. Programs offered include pre-hospital
symposiums, care conferences, in-service education; emergency care system development;
injury prevention; American Heart Association life support training; and CPR.
